Designed this gearbox in a group of 3. After 2 months of performing dissection and design multiple tools and equipment, we were asked to design a gearbox featuring at least 12:1 speed reduction.
The gearbox shown has a speed reduction of 16:1. This design was achieved after multiple trials since we had to consider the 3d printing maximum time limit of 6 hours. This design was printed in under 5.5 hours and currently has some minor weak points like the housing pillars. These are some of our improvements for the future designs.
